Schnuch

The Schnuch is a sociable creature that prefers to live in a community with at least two other Schnuchs.

Male and female Schnuchs are easily distinguishable. The females often look remarkably similar to books, while male Snooks sport distinctive loops on their backs.

These loops are a good indicator of age; the first loop appears with sexual maturity at the age of 10 years. Each decade, another loop is added.

Snooks were discovered in the 6th century by an Irish monk, who was probably inspired by them to bind written documents into books.

They are now considered nearly extinct, as their habitat is disappearing due to increasing digitization.

Their preferred food is bookworms. Older and larger specimens occasionally hunt for „reading rats“ (bookworms in human form). However, this comes with a high risk, as some have been devoured by the reading rats themselves.
