The Gugelguck is one of the most curious mythical creatures. It owes its name to its shape and its many eyes.
It lives on riverbanks and hunts small insects and fish both under and above water. With its multitude of eyes, almost no prey escapes it. The eyes with long black lashes look like small flowers and attract small insects above the water surface.
With the „mud plug,“ it can wonderfully attach itself to the riverbank mud and quickly suck in once-spotted prey through the hole in the middle of its body.
The creators of a now very widespread search engine were so fascinated by the abilities of this creature that they named their search engine after the Gugelguck. The spelling changed slightly during translation into the Anglo-American language and was also shortened.
