The Hatmaker is a magical escape box in Munich, perfect for families and small groups.

The White Rabbit asks for your help and leads you into Wonderland, to an abandoned hut filled with hats and fabrics. There you discover that the Hatmaker has hidden the Queen of Hearts’ hat inside a locked wooden cylinder – but has forgotten how to open it. Furious, the Queen had him imprisoned, and tomorrow he is to be executed. You are his last hope: find the hat before it’s too late!

The Hatmaker is especially well suited for families and groups with children, as many puzzles can be discovered and solved together.

A special feature of this box is the integrated audio story system, which continues the Hatmaker’s story step by step and guides you through the adventure.

This escape box is only playable in German, as important clues and story elements are hidden in the audio recordings and the hint system is also in German.

International groups can still play the game if at least one person in the team understands German and can translate the audio clues and hints for the others.

How it works

Book the box for a full day, take it with you, and return it the following day.

Story

The rabbit points to a large wooden cylinder and explains:
“Our Hatmaker was commissioned by the Queen of Hearts to craft a new hat for her. He keeps it stored inside here, but unfortunately he has forgotten how to open the thing.”

The Hatmaker asked the Queen for more time, but she was so furious that she had him imprisoned immediately. Tomorrow he is to be executed. You are now his last hope: find the hat before it is too late – only then can our friend be saved from his fate!

Do I have to pick up the box at 2:00 PM and return it at 1:00 PM?

After your booking, it is possible to arrange an individual pickup or return time with us.

In detail, this means:

An earlier or later pickup is possible upon request, provided the box has not been rented to another customer within the 24 hours before your booking.

A later return may also be possible, as long as no follow-up booking has been scheduled for the same day (after 2:00 PM).

Simply leave your preferred times in the comment field during booking, and we’ll see what we can arrange for you.

Can we also play the box at your location?

This escape box is primarily designed to be played at home or at your chosen location.

However, by prior arrangement via email, it is also possible to play the box at our venue. If you’re visiting from out of town, just passing through, or would simply prefer not to make two trips for pickup and return, feel free to contact us.

Depending on availability and staffing, we will do our best to accommodate your request.

A selection of drinks is available for purchase on site.
We kindly ask that you do not bring your own beverages.

What if we get stuck?

The Hatmaker includes an integrated hint system called the Hint Mushroom.

For each puzzle there are one or more numbered discs on the mushroom. If you get stuck, you can lift the disc that corresponds to the puzzle you are currently working on. Underneath you will find a first hint that points you in the right direction.

If the hint is not enough, you can turn the disc over. On the back you will find the solution to that specific (sub-)puzzle.

Some puzzles consist of multiple steps and therefore have more than one disc with additional hints.

This way you can always help yourselves and continue your adventure without needing external assistance.
